Business Administration

The Business Administration program at the Faculty of Commerce, Alexandria University is designed to provide students with the academic knowledge about the field of business administration and business environment. Graduates acquire the skills needed to practice the profession of management and are prepared to pass vocational qualification exams in management.

It is concerned with giving students the knowledge about: setting plans, programs and policies based on institutional demands, preparing marketing feasibility studies and evaluating investment proposals, designing organizational structures and systems at different managerial levels, understanding modern managerial philosophies like total quality management and reengineering as well as exploring their application opportunities in different working areas.

Accounting

The Accounting program at the Faculty of Commerce, Alexandria University is designed to give students an understanding of the theory of accounting through teaching students about: accounting standards, financial statements preparation, product costs, budgeting, taxation, auditing, risk assessment, and controls.  It also provides students with the accounting knowledge associated with Islamic accounting and Zakat accounting. In addition, it focuses on continuously updating the knowledge associated with the contemporary accounting issues.

Graduates are well-prepared for accounting careers in private, public, governmental, or Islamic organizations. Graduates are able to perform the transactions of accounting cycle, and inventory adjustments in order to be able to prepare the financial statements to different types of organizations. They are also able to: deal with numbers, analyze them, and interpret their meanings, follow the scientific approach of thinking, deal with different situations in order to transfer threats to real opportunities, and present ideas using a scientific approach and document objective evidence.

Economics

The Economics program at the Faculty of Commerce, Alexandria University is designed to provide students with the basic economics’ concepts and theories. It also helps students acquire economic thinking skills to analyze the economic problems, solve them, and make decisions. In addition, it helps students understand the contemporary economic issues.

The major objective of the Economic program is to provide graduates capable of working in the economic sector. Graduates are able to analyze economic variables and data both on the micro and macro levels. They are also able to convert threats to opportunities, and think analytically and creatively to deal with the scarcity of economic and human resources.

Public Finance

The Public Finance program at the Faculty of Commerce, Alexandria University is designed to give students an understanding of the public finance theories, and the local and international tax and customs laws. It also helps students understand the current economic issues in the Egyptian society. In addition, it provides students with the basics of the Islamic fiscal system.

The major objective of the Public Finance program is to provide students with the conceptual understanding and technical competence to become leaders in taxation and customs. Students are able to analyze the different tax laws and their problems, analyze the different types of feasibility studies, and evaluate investment opportunities. They are also able to use different tools in the fiscal policies to solve problems of the society, and think analytically and creatively to deal with the scarcity of economic resources.

Statistics

The Statistics program at the Faculty of Commerce, Alexandria University is designed to provide good quality graduates capable of working in different production sectors that need good knowledge and application of statistical theory. It is concerned with giving students an understanding of the basic principles of statistics theories, the basic statistical tools that they need in their career as statisticians, the different analytical techniques, and the ability to formalize problems in quantitative way.

Graduates develop the skills of: manipulating their basic knowledge to suit the job requirements, handling new techniques of data analysis and information technology to frame problems at hand in a quantitative form, choose a suitable model, deal with data problems and report it in an easy-to-interpret way

Management Information Systems

The Management Information System program at the Faculty of Commerce, Alexandria University is designed to give students an understanding of the basic principles and theories as well as contemporary trends and issues in the field of information systems. It is concerned with the general framework of information systems and its relationship to decision making in different types of business organization and the different environments in which organizations operate.

It is designed to train students on the skills needed to succeed as information professionals. Such professionals must be familiar with: different approaches to software development, data collection and processing in order to design decision support systems, using computer applications and information technology to design and operate business and accounting systems, using various quantitative methods to solve practical problems.
