Homer has relied on criticism in his heroic stories where imagination was mixed up with truth as in the traditional stories of Gods in Greek mythology. If we were to trace the true beginnings of critical thinking, we will soon discover that they were originated by Socrates's early insights as he went beyond his well-known approach of questioning, dialogue and examining concepts to rational justifications for fabricated cognitive claims, false evidence, and corrupted or contradictory beliefs.Socrates sort of thinking was evident in Plato, Aristotle, and theGreek Skeptics, all of whom emphasized that reality is usually different than what appears on the surface. Socrates's method or approach takes the form of an introspective dialogue, based on two phases:The stage of sarcasmIt is considered a negative stage where he urges questions and presents doubts for those who ask for knowledge, and he makes them contradict with themselves and induce them to acknowledge ignorance.Socrates aims from this stage to get rid of false misleading science that corrupts minds and urge to prepare the minds to accept what is right. This dialogue began with questioning of some concepts that seemed to be well-known; as what is justice? What is injustice? What is courage? What is good and what is bad?The stage of Generation:It is considered a positive stage where Socrates was helping the speakers to reach the objective truth which they first admitted they did not know.
