Undoubtedly, this is an important requirement to contribute to the possibility of developing and raising the efficiency of performance and rationalizing the use of available resources, leading to a reduction in the ship%u2018s rotation(cycles) period. in the port, facilitating the flow of goods and reducing the cost of operation and trading.(2) Allocating the appropriate berth: This process begins with examining the necessary information provided by the ship%u2018s owner or agent, then the actual assignment of the berth takes place with the necessity of providing all appropriate facilities and means for handling and transporting the cargo of the ship%u2018s cargo. After selecting the appropriate berth, it is necessary to approximate the number of days that the ship will stay on the berth by dividing the ship%u2018s tonnage by the average quantity of unloaded merchandise estimated in tons for each working day of the ship. The allocation of the berth must be flexible, i.e. adjustable, since the ship may be delayed due to bad weather conditions or a malfunction that occurs in it, or it may arrive before the expected date of its arrival, and it may also happen that the ship on the berth is delayed and does not take off except at a late time that is not expected for it. Which requires the necessity of allocating another berth for the ship that was expected to be parked on that berth.
