This will result in higher cost of services provided due to increased time of vassal in port.4. The lack of sufficient time to complete the delivery of goods from berths, yards or warehouses before arrival of the next vessel. The same for exported goods. The rate of berths Occupancy depends on four factors: the number of berths, lengths, depths and equipment of the port, the types and sizes of the cargo ships received by the port, the average duration of the vessels on these berths, and finally the regularity of the periods of arrival of these vessels to the port. The period of operation of the berth is actually equivalent to the period of work of the berth (the period of stay of the ship on the berth - the period of downtime) minus the period of unemployment. The duration of unemployment and the duration of downtime represent the unused berth capacity. The ideal situation is for the vessel%u2018s stay on the berth to be equivalent to the operating period, but this is unrealistic because of the difficulty of avoiding some periods of disruption even if the operation takes place in three shifts per day, given that the periods of eating meals and periods of shifts must be disrupted in the handling of goods, What about the disruption that occurs due to bad weather conditions or a delay between connecting the ship at the berth and moving the first hook, and between placing the last shipment of the ship and sailing it due to the completion of some administrative work and the settlement of documents or waiting for the navigation guide or the locomotive.
