It means the net period of time during which the berth is occupied by ships, and it indicates the level of demand for port services. Here there are two indicators:-Annual berth occupancy rate = total berth occupancy times with ships / total days of the year.- Non-annual berth occupancy = loading and unloading time / the total time that the ships stay on the berth during a certain period of time.Example: Assume that there is a general cargo terminal consisting of three berths, reference to the records of the movement of vessels, and extraction of traffic data for the three berths separately, which can be shown in the following table.
