This area is prepared for the reception and docking of ships through the construction of berths Breths that are suitable for the different submersions of ships and suit the different lengths and sizes of ships not only at present but in the future as well. Not to mention the provision of that land with all the vital equipment and facilities that facilitate the process of connecting and berthing ships and securing their parking and at the same time meeting the needs of ships and their crews of food, supplies, water, fuel and others. It is worth noting that as far as these berths are prepared to receive the sea, they should be prepared to receive land, and perhaps this means that these berths are able to serve goods and means of transport, and equipment and means are built on them in a way that corresponds to the type of goods traded or expected to be traded with the movement of land transport means such as berths General cargo, standard and multipurpose cargo, dry and liquid bulk cargo berths, dangerous cargo, passenger berths, container docks and yards. Here, each of them should be provided in proportion to the specialized role it plays and in a way that excludes impeding performance, whether from the movement of goods, people and means of transport within the port.3- Land areas It is the area on which the various equipment and facilities necessary for the management and operation of the port are built. The importance of this space has increased with the developments that occurred in the growth of international trade and followed by the increase in the size of ships and developments in the containerization and unification of goods and the need to transport and store them, and thus the need for a large floor area that helps to speed up the handling of goods and unloading of ships. It accommodates seasonal flows of goods such as timber and some agricultural products. The Port Authority is responsible for providing, maintaining and managing the aforementioned facilities, as well as developing and modernizing the port and improving its performance. The main tasks and responsibilities of the Port Authority can be summarized in the following points:1- Providing a safe and appropriate environment for all types of ships that frequent the port, as well as providing the facilities and services necessary for the handling of goods.2- Managing and developing all activities with high efficiency, especially for cargo handling operations (loading and unloading of ships).
